Call for Adjudicators
Submission Deadline: May 21st, 2023
About:
Asian Impact Society is seeking adjudicators to join our Exhibition Committee to review and adjudicate submissions for our upcoming art exhibit and contest.
The exhibition theme is multiculturalism, diversity and anti-racism. Artwork submitted should address at least one of these themes. Through this exhibition, our goal is to educate the viewing public on why multiculturalism and diversity is important and why there is no place for racism in our communities.
Details of our exhibition requirements can be found at: https://www.asianimpactsociety.com/your-art-your-reflections.
The exhibition and contest is open to all ages and a variety of mediums including 2D and 3D artwork. Awards will be granted for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each age categories as follows:
-
Age 12 and under
-
Age 13 to 18
-
Age 19+
Adjudicator Qualifications
-
You understand the negative impact of discrimination to communities; what it means to be anti-racist; and value diversity, equity and inclusion in our communities. You understand and/or have experienced the challenges and barriers faced by BIPOC community members.
-
You are an artist or a community member who work in the field of art.
-
Experience adjudicating art exhibits an asset, but not required.
What to Expect
Adjudicators will participate in a Zoom orientation with the Exhibition Committee prior to jurying. The initial adjudication will take place virtually by reviewing images and artists statements of the artwork submitted. If necessary, an in person meeting will convene to determine final placement of the shortlisted artwork. Individuals should expect to volunteer approximately 15 hours of their time between June 15 and July 31, 2023. Jurors are welcome to attend the Opening Reception of the exhibition at Place des Arts in early September 2023. Adjudicators will be compensated $300 for their time.
